After all, it can get a bit tedious when putting away a dozen pairs of socks and about 20 books you forgot you owned if you don’t take the time to goof around with your things every now and then. rolled up posters that you could put away without taking a second look but are worth messing with in order to find some stickers or just take a look at how cool they are. It pays to check everything there is to check, such as moving some items around, e.g. You are under no time limit or rush to unpack and you’re encouraged to take it easy and maybe snap some pictures with the camera function. The gameplay itself in Unpacking sticks to simplicity: it’s a classic drag-and-drop designed puzzle game. Do you remember when you first moved to a new house? How about moving for college? Or to your first independent home? And more importantly, did you ever stop to think about how different you were when you arrived in each of those places compared to the last time you moved? Unpacking feels like a love letter to these moments. Piece-by-piece, a quaint picture of a person is painted without ever having to truly show a face but it also feels deeply personal: It’s a type of nostalgia to rummage through all of the items, taking forever to put them away properly. As you open these boxes and see what’s inside each of them and where they’re supposed to go, you’ll find out more and more about the kind of person you are standing in for and what their life and dreams are like. The soul of the game’s storytelling comes from the simple concept that you can learn a lot about someone just from what they own and how they live. After foregoing heavy exposition and unnecessary wordiness, it all is packed up quite nicely in a moving box for the player to open at their leisure and spend more time reminiscing about their first moving house experience than they ever thought they would have. A story that appeals to nostalgia can be told in many ways and Unpacking tells its story subtly through its gameplay and environment. There are certain emotions that I believe resonate particularly strongly with people and nostalgia is near the very top of my list. Unpacking also evokes a particular feeling in me. As anyone that has attempted to put all of their possessions properly in place (or fill a car trunk with groceries) can attest to, organisation is in fact the world’s most difficult game of Tetris. Unpacking is a puzzle game that is very simple in its concept: you’ve just moved and are unpacking into your new place! Fit everything where you want it to go, if you can actually muster the courage to crack open these seemingly endless brown boxes containing all of your belongings - those shelves surely aren’t going to fill themselves, after all. Lightroom has – perhaps – a slightly nicer highlight roll-off and does keep midtones and shadows contrasty even when you use the Highlights and Whites sliders at quite high settings, but it can’t quite match Capture One’s ‘bite’. Its highlight roll-off isn’t always the best – the transition from blown detail to recoverable detail – in sky tones and clouds, for example, but it preserves midtone and shadow clarity brilliantly. Testing all three programs across a series of RAW files I found there was little difference in the amount of highlight detail each could recover, when pushed, but that images looked quite different afterwards.Ĭapture One was the most convincing. PhotoLab’s shadow and highlight recover is effective, but feels very complicated compared to the others. There are also manual Selective Tone adjusters for manual control but it’s not clear either how these interact with the other two. PhotoLab complicates things with Exposure Compensation and Smart Lighting tools which interact to automatically optimise the image’s tonal range, but it’s not always clear what the program is doing and how to affect it manually. All three of these programs offer shadow and highlight recovery tools, but Capture One’s High Dynamic Range tools are probably the simplest and most obvious to use, though Lightroom’s shadow and highlight recovery is straightforward and effective too. One of the big reasons for shooting RAW files over JPEGs is the ability to recover blown highlights and bring up dense shadow detail.

Don’t be too cheap with it because this book’s going to get battered around on your travels, and you don’t want it falling apart. They’re the easiest to open and lay flat while you write, or to balance on your lap or a tray in an airplane or train. In fact my favorite travel journals are spiral bound with thick, solid rings. Because we do judge a book by its cover, even if we wrote it ourselves.īe careful to balance attractive with functional, though. I loved writing in it, probably wrote more than normal, and still like to grab it off my shelf today. I’ve always liked to buy a diary or notebook that’s a bit meaningful: in Slovakia, for example, I bought a hardcover notebook adorned with pictures of the pretty Bojnice Castle. Ubisoft has announced that Immortals Fenyx Rising will have three DLC expansions that feature new heroes and one story set in Chinese Mythology. With the purchase of the season pass we will also receive “When the going gets tough”, an extra mission available from launch day.īut those who are not very fond of downloadable content should not worry either, because as we anticipated in our Reviews (where it received an 8.5 grade), Immortals Fenyx Rising has base material to bore and its world does not stop adding things to do. These stories, of which Ubisoft already offered a small preview, are “Myths of the Eastern Kingdom” (set in Chinese mythology and starring Ku, a new hero) and “The lost gods” (of which it is not yet known too much information aside from the name of its main hero, Ash). This first DLC is part of the Immortals Fenyx Rising season pass, which costs € 39.99 and offers access to two more stories, still without a release date. – PlayStation Game Size JanuSeason Pass First DLC Myth of the Eastern Realm is the second of three planned DLCs for Immortals Fenyx Rising and its development is being led by Ubisoft Chengdu. According to the console’s digital store, the first Immortals DLC will go on sale on Januat a price of $ 22.95. The Nintendo Switch eShop has been updated with the product page of the first of these downloadable content, thus surprising Ubisoft. Ever heard of Google Photos? It’s completely free no matter how much you upload, and you can get it on pretty much any platform. Fortunately, there’s something even better. My Photo Stream is great at what it does, but the limited cloud-backup functionality associated is highly disconcerting. To learn more about the advantages and limitations of My Photo Stream when compared to the default iCloud Photo Library, do check our detailed comparison guide regarding the subject. Photos are only backed up to iCloud for a maximum of 30 days, and you won’t find any videos or live photos syncing across devices either. It doesn’t require any space on iCloud, but you should still find your latest photos syncing over to all devices instantly. If photos take up a huge chunk of your iCloud storage, then consider using My Photo Stream to sync photos. So, if you are interested in managing your iCloud storage a tad more effectively, here are a few tips. Deleting files work, but only temporarily until you start running out of space again. ICloud notifications are annoying, but simply turning them off doesn’t resolve the actual cause of the issue. That’s it! You’ve successfully turned off iCloud notifications, so you should no longer receive any distracting pop-ups or sounds anymore. Step 4: Finally, disable the switch under Notifications. Step 3: Turn off the switches under Show Notification Banners, Keep Notifications Private on the Lock Screen, Show Notifications in the Action Center, and Play a Sound When a Notification Arrives. Step 2: Scroll down and click iCloud Services. Step 1: Open the Start menu, search for Notifications, and then click Turn App Notifications On or Off. However, there’s a minor glitch within the application that forcefully re-enables disabled notifications after a PC restart, so you need to follow a particular pattern to permanently turn them off. Windows 10 gives you complete control over all app-related notifications, so you can turn off iCloud notifications immediately. But if you are also looking for ways to actually free up some iCloud storage, then you are going to find a few pointers on how to do that as well. Fortunately, Windows 10 lets you turn them off quite easily. |
